This polished Malachite with Chrysocolla specimen has a particularly bold, high-contrast appearance, with vivid emerald and turquoise-green mineralisation set against much deeper forest green. The main face is dominated by sweeping bands and rounded concentric formations, creating a strong natural pattern that immediately draws the eye.
The colour is one of the real strengths of this piece. Bright green bands run cleanly through the darker Malachite, while several circular “eye” formations add depth and structure across the polished surface. The finish is smooth and glossy, allowing the colours and fine layering to show clearly without losing the natural character of the mineral.
The reverse offers a noticeably different look, with broader areas of lighter blue-green Chrysocolla and more softly defined botryoidal structures. The narrow edges are also highly patterned, revealing tightly layered bands that wrap around the specimen and give it excellent visual interest from multiple angles.
Malachite is a copper carbonate mineral prized for its rich green colour and distinctive banded or botryoidal growth. Chrysocolla is another copper-bearing mineral, typically adding blue to turquoise-green tones. Their association within the copper deposits of the Democratic Republic of the Congo can produce especially colourful and decorative specimens such as this.
